CHUCK SALT TO BEAT
BP
|
|
|
|
A high-salt diet
can contribute to treatment resistant hypertension. US scientists
assigned patients having resistant blood pressure-where even three
medications cannot bring it down to the target level-to a low or
high salt diet. Those on low-salt diets did better, as their
systolic BP dropped by 22.6 mmHg, and diastolic BP by 9.2 mmHg. The
BP reduction achieved with low – salt diet was better than some
antihypertensive drugs.
