The
best thing you can do in terms of fitness before your big event
is to go for a power
                 walk
(where you are walking on the verge of running) for 30 minutes.
Those who like running can alternate between running and
walking. Skipping is also a good cardio option.
“This quick cardio session will have you glowing and feeling
good,” says fitness expert and personal trainer Deanne Panday
adding, “You can also do a set each of crunches, push-ups and
tricep dips.” Finishing your workout with a yoga session or five
minutes of meditaion will leave you feeling refreshed. Do your
favourite ‘asana’ or a breathing exercise. And spend five
                minutes quietly, with yourself meditating.

If you want to look super slim for your event in the
evening, avoid salt and sugar during the day. Avoid
foods that have ‘maida’ and ‘soji’ like white bread or
                        rusk.

“To make sure you don’t look tired and lifeless eat a
lot of sprouts-‘moong’ and ‘moth’ are good options,”
says dietician Dr Shikha Sharma. “‘Channa’ tends to give
you gas, so avoid that.” To add some sweet variety to
your diet that day, eat a lot of fruits like apples,
                        pomegranates, pears, etc.

To prevent water retention, drink herbal teas like
chamomile, jasmine, ‘tulsi’ etc. You can also drink
‘jeera’ or ‘ajwain’ water to help digestion and prevent
                        bloating.

At the event, choose chicken or fish dishes, ‘paneer’,
mushrooms or steamed momos. Avoid fried foods like ‘samosas’,
or chicken lollypops and opt for anything that is baked
                        or steamed. |

                 Is
your hair looking dry and damaged, dull and lifeless? Rich Feel
recommends these quick fixes for a week and notice the
                difference.

                DIET: Your hair is nourished
by your bloodstream and lack of nutrition will result in dull
and lifeless looking hair. Nourish your hair with hair food-
palak, paneer and milk are great for the hair as also any food
rich in protein. Make sure you drink plenty of water (about 14
glasses or water) to flush out toxins and prevent split ends and
make your hair strong, healthy and beautiful.

                HOME CARE: Condition your
hair by oiling it at once a week, leave the oil in overnight,
and wash off next day. If your hair is colored or permed, try a
deep conditioning treatment. Massage your hair thoroughly with
oil, use a steamer to run steam through your hair and keep it
bundled in a towel or a cling wrap for some time so that the
                heat socks in. |
